Where’s the captain

When you start off designing any bedroom for your child, they will always have great ideas to what they need. Some of them may not be practical but there ideas can set you in the right direction.

Sitting down with your child and asking what they do and don’t like is a perfect way to start there personalised pirate theme bedroom.

Flooring

Painting the floor boards blue or even adding a blue carpet to mimic the sea. The blue theme could be then added to the wall, going even further white clouds could be added to the walls with a sponge.

If you have wooden floor boards and want to preserve them for later in life covering them with a protective varnish can create the feel for the boats wooden deck.

Wall and art

Using blue for a child’s wall can give the room a feel of coldness, the trick here is to use furnishing with browns and reds to make the room more inviting.

If you walls are to be highly decorated...

If you’re decorating the walls then you should have no shortage of decorating ideas there’s plenty out there, from murals to stencils and even hand painted pictures.

A great start to wall stencilling is to use a skull and cross bone stencil. Not only is it a simple design, you only have to use a single color. Try scattering a few across the walls to add some variety.

Stickers

With a quick search over the net a range of wall stickers can be found. Palm trees, islands, pirates and parrots, the choices are endless and only limited to your imagination. Stickers are quick and easy to add life in to dull walls.

Mural

Murals are great, not only do they transform a room with color and ease; you can choose any designs to meet your little pirates design.

You could try a world map or an island on the wall making the feel of an adventure in the room.

Tip - If you use a mural keeping the rest of the walls a neutral color will help stop any clashing colors.

Themed furniture

If the money allows how about a themed pirate bed, these will provide instant fun and will be totally unique from anyone else.

Buying natural wooden furniture will be great for pirate furniture especially if you are using wooden floors, creating the feel of a ship. Otherwise you could simply paint or buy furniture to fit in with the back ground of the room like blue to show the sky.

Using a toy box and decorating it as a treasure chest is perfect for holing all that loot.

And one final thing to remember, have good storage space as with Christmas and birthdays, pirates collect a lot of bounty.
